CPO Prices Reach USD 660 / Ton, Palm Oil Entrepreneurs and Farmers Happy

Jakarta - Entrepreneurs and oil palm farmers are happy, because the price of crude palm oil (CPO) increased sharply at the end of October 2019.

Based on data from the Association of Indonesian Palm Oil Entrepreneurs (GAPKI) in October there was a sharp increase in CPO prices from USD 520 / ton at the beginning of the month to USD 660 / ton CIF Rotterdam at the end of October 2019

"The increase in palm oil prices is a great relief to entrepreneurs and planters after suffering for several years due to low prices," Gapki Executive Director Mukti Sardjono said on Tuesday (12/24).

He added, this good price provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs and planters to restore the condition of the plantations and factories to return to normal production.

"Efforts to restore the plantation at the beginning of the end of 2019 / early 2020 is the right time because according to BMKG 2019/2020 rainfall will be normal. Nevertheless, this recovery activity will require time, "he explained.

According to BMKG, in 2019/2020 rainfall in most areas of oil palm plantations is expected to be normal except in a small part in southern North Sumatra and northern Riau, eastern Jambi and a little in East Kalimantan. However, the drought in 2019 will probably carry over into 2020.
